Guwahati: The State of Assam gets Bajali as its 34th district on Monday. The decision was taken by the Government of Assam in a cabinet meeting at the Administrative Staff College in Guwahati.
The official announcement was made by the State Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary.
The Cabinet has also approved for the creation of 10 officer posts and 85 other posts, informed Minister Patowary.
Bajali, the sub-division of Barpeta District is located at around 103 km West of Guwahati City.
Notably, the Government of Assam had sought No Objection Certificate to create Bajali a district from the Registrar General of India under the Ministry of Home Affairs in July 2020.
Earlier, the Government of Assam had also announced the formation of three new autonomous councils for Koch Rajbongshi, Moran and Mottock.
