Facebook ‘Fact Checkers’ Flags video uploaded by Himanta, terms it ‘False Information’

Aziz Khan shouldn't have kept a name resembling Pakistan: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati: Facebook 'Independent Fact-Checkers' has verified the claim made by Himanta Biswa Sarma about the pro-Pakistan slogans raised at Assam's Silchar Airport by the members of AIUDF upon arrival of its supremo Maulana Badruddin Ajmal as fake.

Facebook which was alleged to be favouring the ruling party by promoting hate speeches and fake news has now established its neutrality by this act.

Two days back Himanta had shared a video where he falsely claimed that the supporters of AIUDF were shouting Pakistan Zindabad. After fact check by Alt News, it was verified that the crowd was shouting Aziz Khan Zindabad and not Pakistan. The news was reported without proper fact-checking by two pro-Government portals called OpIndia and The Frustated India. It is to be mentioned that both the news channels are blacklisted by Wikipedia for allegedly spreading communal fake news.

When the media asked Himanta about this, he sidelined this in a lighter note by saying that South Karimganj MLA Aziz Khan shouldn't have kept a name resembling Pakistan.

AIUDF denies allegation of raising Pakistan Zindabad Slogan at Silchar Airport, claims the video is distorted!

Guwahati: Reacting to the Silchar Airport incident, AIUDF General Secretary Aminul Islam hits back at BJP claiming it to be a political conspiracy by the ruling Government ahead of the grand alliance by the AIUDF with other political parties.

“From last one and half months, the ruling Government has been trying to communalize the situation in the state by raising issues of Arabic Banner, Mia Museum and now Pakistan Zindabad slogans, we demand a probe into the matter,” said AIUDF General Secretary Aminul Islam before the media.

AIUDF General Secretary Aminul Islam further alleged that State Cabinet Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP Government have been intentionally trying to provoke the people of Assam by raising such issues.

Islam also raised a point stating that Dhubri MP and AIUDF Supremo Maulana Badruddin Ajmal was here in Barak Valley for political meeting, thus, there were a lot of political personalities at the airport of Silchar raising Zindabad Slogans. “They had raised Badruddin Ajmal Zindabad slogans. When the supporters raised Aziz Khan Zindabad slogan, a private satellite channel from Assam allegedly made news out of it stating that Pakistan Zindabad slogans were raised at the Silchar Airport. This is a distorted video, hence we demand a probe into the matter,” Islam added.

“We also witnessed that recently Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had claimed that AIUDF Supremo Maulana Badruddin Ajmal’s cabinet should have been either in Pakistan or Bangladesh, which signifies that the Minister was trying to establish a strategy to convert Aziz Khan zindabad slogan to Pakistan zindabad slogan,” AIUDF General Secretary Aminul Islam alleged further.

It is to be noted that Aziz Khan is the MLA from South Karimganj Constituency.

Meanwhile, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while addressing a programme at Srimanta Shankardev Kalashetra in Guwahati on Friday had expressed his deepest annoyance over AIUDF supremo Maulana Badruddin Ajmal for using an ‘Arabic Banner’ in place of the Assamese in a programme in Goalpara.

“There is a political conspiracy going on to create a dispute among our own people of the state, thus, these people have been abruptly taking away our political rights from our own hands,” added Himanta.
