35 Arrested as Uttar Pradesh 'Love Jihad' Law Completes 1 Month
The Uttar Pradesh police have made around 35 people arrested since the controversial anti-conversion ordinance came into effect a month ago.
The first case was registered in Bareilly just a day after the legislation came into force.
The police cracked the whip following a complaint of Tikaram Rathore, the father of a 20-year-girl and resident of Sharif Nagar village in Bareilly. He alleged that Uwaish Ahmad (22) had become friends with his daughter and was trying to "coax, coerce and lure" her to convert.
An FIR was lodged at Deorania police station in Bareilly district and the accused was arrested on December 3.
According to reports, nearly a dozen FIRs have been lodged since the Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance, 2020, was notified on November 27.
Eight arrests were made from Etah, seven from Sitapur, four from Greater Noida, three each from Shahjahanpur and Azamgarh, two each from Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor and Kannauj and one each from Bareilly and Hardoi.
UP Engineer Arrested for Filming, Sexually Abusing 50 Kids for Over 10 Yrs
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a engineer of Uttar Pradesh for sexually exploiting about 50 minor children for the last 10 years.
According to reports, the junior engineer from the irrigation department allegedly sold videos and photographs of nefarious acts on the dark net to other paedophiles across the globe.
Rambhawan, the accused, is alleged to have preyed upon the children in the 5 to 16 years age group in the districts of Chitrakoot, Banda and Hamirpur in the last 10 years mainly contacting and sharing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) with other paedophiles globally using dark net and cloud services abroad, officials said.
Rambhawan was arrested from Banda and is likely to be produced before the competent court soon.
Meanhwhile, the CBI seized eight mobile phones, around Rs 8 lakh in cash, sex toys, laptop, and other digital evidence carrying huge quantity of CSAM.
11 Fake Army Officials Arrested in Guwahati
Eleven impostors masquerading as army officials carrying fake identity cards and wearing camouflaged uniforms were arrested in Guwahati.
The accused have been identified as Ganesh Das, Saurav Sharma, Dhiman Krishna, Joymoni Sharma, Nayanjyoti Gautam, Bijoy Moni Sharma, Dijen Sharma, Riponjoy Goswami, Rupam Sharma, Gyananda Das and Kaushik Bhuyan.
The city police also recovered a Maruti Swift car, five motorbikes and fake identity cards.
According to reports, all the accused were arrested at MES in Borjhar Airport last night, while, they were noticed patrolling by the police.
Assam Govt Official Held for Stealing Mobile Phone in Guwahati
Guwahati Police have arrested a senior official of Assam town and country planning department for allegedly stealing a mobile phone from a shop in Guwahati
According to reports, city police arrested town and country planning department deputy director Md Ali Ashraf on Monday based on a complaint lodged by an employee of the shop with Satgaon police station, said the police official.
The officer in white shirt and blue jeans, was caught on CCTV cameras stealing the mobile phone from the shop, Yash Josh at city’s Baghorbori Tiniali area.
The FIR lodged in the Satgaon police station stated, “The deputy director Ali Ashraf has stolen a mobile phone Samsung A-507FZKVINS which was registered in the name of Yash Ahmed, son of Raju Ahmed, an employee of ‘Yash Josh’ store situated at Baghorbori Tiniali.”
Ali Ashraf is posted as deputy director at the office of town and country planning in North Lakhimpur.
