One-horned Rhino dies of old age in Kaziranga National Park

GUWAHATI: In a heartbreaking incident, a strayed rhino from Kaziranga National Park (KNP) suspected to have died due to old aged sickness on Friday morning.

As per a forest report, the rhino which has been straying at Bandardubi area since July 17, 2020 and drawn attention of all concerned public was found dead at about 11 am today at the edge of Deopani River inside the National Park by the staff of Dusuti camp of Bagori Range.

The cause of death of rhino has been ascertained as old aged sickness.

Meanwhile, all available veterinary care was resorted to ailing rhino, the forest report stated further.

At least 12 rhinos have lost their life in the state flood this year, of which 9 died of drowning and 3 naturally.

It may be mentioned that a total of 153 animals have been rescued by the forest official and 125 animals have died in the Assam Flood.
