Delhi: After the decision of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, that states international students who are attending online classes in the USA will have to deport from the country, Indian National Congress party accused Centre is not paying attention to the threat that Indian students are facing. India and Indians have been insulted by the US’s arbitrary decision and the Indian government seem clueless, the party said on Wednesday.
Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi centre for remaining clueless on the matter and said, “Has the government used any power whether its diplomatic, economic, educational to immediately get this decision reversed apart from ‘jumle baazi’. This is on the face of it a perverse decision. We don’t need to speak on it from a position of weakness. India needs to shout loud and clear and we need to force the US to roll back such a ridiculous, midstream decision but the government seems clueless. He also said the US is canceling H-1B “left, right and centre”, which will affect a large number of Indians.
US officials said that every year they issue 85000 H1- B visas, and India tolls 70 % of it annually. “This move will affect those 85,000 workers who were issued visas out of 2,25,000 applicants,” Singhvi said.
