Guwahati: India surpassed Russia as the country recorded the third-highest number of COVID-19 cases. The national tally neared 7,00,000 with a recovery rate of almost 61%.
As per media reports, there were over 24,000 cases recorded in a single day as per the latest government figures.
It is to be noted that India has been struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic for over five months now. After around two months of lockdown, the country opened up in a phased manner from June 8 and people are getting used to the new normal.
On the other hand, some states are continuing to see a rise in coronavirus patients and continue to enforce restrictions.
