CRPF jawan Mrityunjoy Chetia martyred in grenade attack by terrorists in J&K

In an unfortunate incident, a CRPF jawan from Dhemaji district in Assam, Mrityunjoy Chetia was martyred as he succumbed to injuries after a grenade attack by terrorists at Ganderbal in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to CRPF, Mrityunjoy Chetia was serving as a constable in 115 Battalion of the security forces.

It may be mentioned that a total of three CRPF jawans were injured during the grenade attack at Ganderbal on Wednesday.

The terrorists lobbed grenades at a CRPF party at Tawheed Chowk in the Dudderhama area of Ganderbal.

All the injured CRPF jawans were rushed to the hospital following the incident.

The CRPF has deeply condoled the demise of the braveheart from Assam. They took to Twitter saying, "We salute the valour & steadfast devotion to duty of CT/GD Mritunjoy Chetia of #115Bn #CRPF who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation. He had suffered grievous injuries in yesterday's grenade attack by terrorists in Ganderbal, J&K. We stand with the family of our Braveheart."

Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal condoled the sad demise of the martyed jawan and tweeted, "CRPF jawan from Assam Mrityunjoy Chetia exhibited exemplary valour and made supreme sacrifice while serving the nation in Jammu & Kashmir. Praying for eternal peace of the departed soul, I offer deepest condolences to the bereaved family. We stand shoulder to shoulder with them."
