Election Commission announces polling dates and counting for 5 states

Assam is going to the polls in three phases

The General Election to the Legislative Assemblies of Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry has been announced.

Assam is going to the polls in three phases:

The first phase of polling will be held on March 27, 2021.

The second phase of the polling will be held on April 1, 2021.

The third phase of the polling will be held on April 6, 2021.

The date of counting is scheduled for May 2, 2021.

The Election Commission had directed the State election machinery of Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry to ensure a smooth, effective, inclusive and time-bound completion of Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls with reference to 01.01.2021 as the qualifying date.

Meanwhile, the Model code of conduct has come into force following the announcement of the polling dates.
