Man hacks old woman to death with axe in Karimganj, Arrested

In a horrific carnage in Assam’s Karimganj district, an old woman dies after being hit by an axe by a tribal youth over a land dispute.

Suniti Bala Das, an old woman, died after being hit by an axe by a 24-year-old man identified as Ringjharhing Halam.

The incident took place on Thursday in Manikband area under Bazarichara police station on the Assam-Mizoram border in Karimganj.

It is learned that the land dispute between the family of the old woman and the family of Ringjharhing had been going on for a long time.

Police informed that Ringjharhing went to cut bamboos in the disputed land while the old woman was trying to stop him from cutting the bamboos when a scuffle broke out between the two and Ringzharhing hit the woman on her head with an axe.

The body of the deceased lady has been sent for post mortem by Karimganj police.

Meanwhile, the killer Ringzharhing, has surrendered before the police.
