The operation to douse off the raging Dzukou range fire in Kohima District entered the seven day today.
In the Bambi Bucket Operation by the Indian Air Force, helicopters continued the task while the ground operation was carried out by 78 personnel from Police, Forest, NDRF and around 50 SAYO volunteers.
Informing AIR News Kohima this evening, Divisional Forest Officer, Rajkumar M said that the main valley is safe and the situation is under control however there is still fire. OSD of NSDMA, Johnny Ruangmei also informed that the team could douse off some of the minor fires this morning. Ruangmei however, said the South-western side of the valley is still under fire and the operation will continue tomorrow.
