Two scribes held for maligning reputation of Assam Minister and his daughter

Two journalists of a web portal have been arrested and would be taken in custody to investigate the alleged conspiracy behind airing news of the Assam minister maligning the father-daughter relationship.

A case was registered against the Editor-in-chief and news editor- Case No 612/2021 under Section 509 IPC r/w sec 14/21 POCSO Act.

Taking to Twitter, Additional DGP (Law & Order) GP Singh said that strict action would be taken against those who tried to malign the familial bond. “People are strongly advised not to give air to such attempts since posting such pictures with malicious intention attracts provisions of POCSO Act. Assam Police would take strong action against all such attempts under stringent provisions of POCSO Act,” said GP Singh in his tweet.

Further, Puli Muchchary connected to Bodoland digital and Nang Noyonmoni Gogoi connected to Spotlight Assam, both digital platforms have been detained by police and would face lawful action. Once again, all are advised not to misuse digital/social media platforms, GP Singh informed in his tweet.

“As a man in public life and father of two daughters, I take strong exception to people maligning father-daughter bond. Society needs to wake up to such basal thought process amongst a section of people, perhaps for material gain,” Singh wrote further.

In another tweet, the ADGP said, “As a father, I am deeply saddened. As a Cop, I promise resolute action against perpetrators and conspirators.”
