In an unfortunate incident, a young woman allegedly jumped into the Barak river near Annapurna Ghat in Silchar. According to family sources, she was found missing from her residence soon after dinner on Tuesday night.
Later, some people working in the area said that a young woman jumped into the water from a nearby bridge. They immediately tried to look out for the young woman, but couldn’t trace her.
Security forces and police were accordingly notified, but, failed to locate her whereabouts due to darkness.
As soon as dawn broke, the SDRF forces started looking for her body. Until the last news was received, no trace of the young woman was found.

Jhumki lived with her parents and three brothers in a rented house next to the dam adjacent to the Annapurna Ghat.
According to her brother, after passing secondary school, she suffered from neurological diseases, as a result of which she did not have the opportunity to continue her studies. She gradually became mentally exhausted from various problems. Family members have tried hard to keep her healthy and in good spirits. The incident has caused a stir in the area.
