Guwahati: SMSS leader Bittu Sonowal and KMSS secretary Dharjya Konwar were tested COVID-19 positive while test result of peasant leader Akhil Gogoi is awaited. Both of them were incarcerated along with peasant leader Akhil Gogoi at Gauhati Central Jail.
They were complaining of deteriorating health conditions creating an uproar amongst the citizens of the state. Continued protests resulted in the authorities to conduct a test on them.
Yesterday evening after being tested COVID-19 positive, both of them were taken to GMCH, owing to the non-availability of beds, they were taken to a facility at Sonapur and then finally they are admitted to MMCH Panbazar, Gauhati.
It may be mentioned that Gauhati Central Jail was sealed as a CONTAINMENT ZONE after an inmate tested positive more than a month back.
