Guwahati: The Health Department of Assam has permitted for home isolation to non-symptomatic patients only if they give a written agreement mentioning that the neighbourhood has got no problem in them being under home isolation. Also, they need to procure pulse oximeter, ensure that there is no senior citizen in their house, need to have a private doctor and manage a car with a driver 24/7 for emergency purposes.
Addressing a press conference at the NHM office in Guwahati, Himanta Biswa Sharma has mentioned that the State has proposed to extend the lockdown by a week whereas the citizen forums have suggested an extension of lockdown for another 2 weeks. He said the matter is pending with the Chief Secretary and he will let the public know by tomorrow.
The Health Minister also answered queries about the transmission of the virus inside the Gauhati Jail Premises. He informed that they are aggressively carrying out the tests and today 33 more inmates are to be admitted.
