IED recovered in Tinsukia’s Lekhapani, Bomb Squad in Action

Digboi: Amidst the pandemic scare in the state, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered at Lekhapani area in Tinsukia district on Thursday morning.

The explosive was found hanging to a bridge in a plastic bag.

Soon after the recovery of the IED, security forces have sealed the NH315 towards Lekhapani.

As per sources, based on a tip-off, the security forces have launched an operation in the area since Wednesday mid-night and recovered the IED in the wee hours on Thursday.

Panic ran high among the local people following the recovery of the IED in the area.

So far it has not been ascertained as to who planted the IED bomb in the area. However, the investigation is on.

Meanwhile, a team of bomb disposal squad reached the spot and blasted the explosive.
