Professionals' Congress slams Govts Unlock 1.0 advisory

Guwahati: After three weeks of Kamrup(M) complete lockdown, Assam Govt. Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna announced UNLOCK1 in Guwahati, which has come into severe criticism by the All India Professionals' Congress Assam Chapter on Sunday.

Gauravv Somani, State President of AIPC and State Congress spokesperson talking to the media said that the present Unlock1 notification issued by the Govt is nothing less than another week additional lockdown, creating unnecessary confusions adding to the misery of common people.

Somani said that Govt has issued instructions for all shopkeepers, employees, and others should get themselves tested for COVID19 and must carry test results at all times, without which they cannot open their shops and carry business operations. Somani said that even if the shopkeepers and employees go for COVID test, it will take 7 to 10 days time to get the test report, and in that case, subsequently, the shopkeepers and employees are not in the position to open the shops and offices until the time he gets COVID test reports. Any violation of the same calls for legal Govt action.

As per the information, Guwahati city has more than 50,000 shops and it's employees additional to add further to the tally. Somani said that it will take a long time to get all shopkeepers and employees to get tested as the Govt has a limited testing capacity per day. Professionals' Congress questioned that if this was the only solution for the Govt to being UNLOCK 1, why was the Govt sleeping since last 21days of complete lockdown? Why did not the Govt issued a notice of such compulsory testing for shopkeepers and employees during lockdown period, which could have resolved the matter once for all before UNLOCK 1.0. Moreover, there is no such compulsion for the buyers/ customers to carry any COVID report which indicates that Govt considers only the shopkeepers as CORONA Virus transmitter, mocked Somani.

Professionals' Congress further said that Confusion seems to be prevailing with regard to usage of private/own vehicles during the Guwahati Unlock starting from 20th July which will remain effective over the next two weeks. Somani said "Can't believe that the current guidelines bans use of the private vehicles while allowing taxis and autos! Is that how we are supposed to contain the spread of the virus? " Asking people to use taxis and not their private vehicles is not only inconvenient, it is hight irresponsible and against all public health recommendations. The Govt is treating people like cattle or mindless idiots.  Rather than taking the public into confidence, strongly counsel them not to expose themselves unnecessarily, one is handed down a list of dilemmas and confusion and no questions asked whatsoever. Professionals' Congress has urged the Govt to rectify and issue fresh guidelines for UNLOCK1 making it convenient for the public at large considering the present crisis.
