Special NIA Court grants bail to KMSS leader Dharjya Konwar

Guwahati: KMSS leader Dharjya Konwar was granted bail by NIA court today. He was tested positive and is incarcerated in the Gauhati Central Jail under UAPA Charge for alleged links with CPI (Maoists).

He was arrested under the FIR 13/19 lodged at Chandmari Police Station. His bail plea was lodged by his advocate Shantanu Borthakur.

Notably, there was a citizen outrage demanding his release. Various organisations like CPI ML Liberation, Ahom Sena and Lachit Sena has been staging hunger strikes and protests demanding the release of all the anti CAA activists.

He is a close aide of Akhil Gogoi, a peasant leader and was prominent in anti CAA protests in Assam.
