Guwahati: On Wednesday Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had a telephonic talk with his Meghalaya counterpart Conrad K Sangma and discussed the issue of transportation of essential commodities to Barak Valley through Meghalaya.
Sonowal urged Sangma to create conditions for a secured and safe movement of the vehicles carrying essential commodities to the Barak Valley districts from Guwahati.
It may be recalled that in view of the spike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases in Guwahati, the Meghalaya government has imposed a total curfew from Byrnihat to Khanapara in Ri-Bhoi district bordering Guwahati.
As per the version of the Assam CMO, Conrad Sangma assured that measures would be taken to ensure the smooth movement of essential goods and medicinal items through Meghalaya.
