AAP Assam Unit to hoist online chorus of Bhupen Hazarika’s historic song


Guwahati: The official Facebook handle of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Assam has hoisted a video where noted People’s artist of Assam, Loknath Goswami invites all the citizens to be part of an online campaign tomorrow at 7.30 PM.

The mass campaign will be organized by Aam Aadmi Party’s, Assam Unit where the common public will be able to participate in an online chorus. The song chosen for the chorus is Bhupen Hazarika’s all-time hit ‘Manuhe Manuhor baabe’ (Human stands with their fellow humans).

Bandeep Dutta, General Secretary, Aam Aadmi Party, Assam Unit, has quoted to the Midage Media, “Presently the entire human race is struggling united against this pandemic. Assam is no different. Through this mass online campaign, we want to provide a platform for the general public to express their solidarity to fellow human beings in this time of utter grief and agony. We want to create a campaign where fellow humans irrespective of their caste, creed or religion come forward to struggle against this pandemic hand in hand. Various people’s and popular artists are part of this campaign; few of them are Loknath Goswami, Abhilekha Das, Harshit Nath and many more. Aam Aadmi Party, Assam has provided a platform where all of us will be able to join for an online chorus of the song, ‘Manuhe Manuhor Baabe’. This composed by Bhupen Hazarika provides the strongest inspiration to the Assamese people to come forward hand in hand to stand with their fellow humans. This event will be conducted at 7.30 PM Tomorrow. I invite all of you to be a part of this campaign.”

Bhupen Hazarika has composed many songs appealing to humans to be humane and sensitive, questioning their silence during the worst of times and appealing for peace and brotherhood. His songs were largely popularized by the Indian People’s Theatre Association across the country amongst the masses.
