Guwahati: It’s a wakeup call for a bibulous person or people who love to consume alcohol in a car, as the team of Excise Department is all set to catch you from the neck with their latest device ‘Alco Patrol Breathe Analyser’.
As per a press statement by the State Excise Department, this device can detect a person who has consumed alcohol within a span of just 5 seconds.
In an initiative by the State Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya and Commissioner of Excise Rakesh Kumar has purchased around 250 Breathe Analyser machines from a Hong Kong-based company.
Speaking to media, Public Relation Officer, Sailendra Pandey informed the media that such sophisticated devices are being actively used in many developed nations amid the pandemic situation. This will indeed help the excise department of the state to curtail the menace created by the trouble makers under the influence of alcohol.
“This particular device has a camera attached to it as well as a thermal printer, our department has been waiting long for such kind of sophisticated device, finally, we are on board,” said Sailendra Pandey.
With the help of these machines, it will be easier to take legal action against the violators who break the law and drink in public places, Pandey stated further.
Meanwhile, all the arrangements have already been made to supply these devices to the district excise offices.
