Child's amputated leg found nearby Shibalik Park in broad day light in Silchar

A child's amputated leg was found in Shibalik Park in Meherpur on Monday afternoon. Locals said they suddenly saw a dog with a child's amputated leg in its mouth and immediately, informed the matter to the Rangirkhari Police Station.

Rangirkhari police station in-charge PK Deka along with his forces arrived at the spot and recovered the amputated leg and sent it to Silchar Medical College Hospital for post mortem.

Speaking to media, PK Deka said, "Since it was found in the dog's mouth, it is not clear exactly from where the child's amputated leg came from. Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) is not far from the area; hence, we will have to examine whether the street dog got the body part of the human child from SMCH or not.”

Meanwhile, Debashish Pal, on behalf of the Shibalik Park Development Committee, said, “People in the area suddenly saw a dog walking around with a large piece of meat on Monday afternoon. Later, they realized that this is a children's leg. This frightened them; somehow they managed to get the dog and informed the matter to police. We tried to find out for ourselves, whether any children in the area were dead or if anyone was missing.”

It is noteworthy to mention that over the years, there has been a sharp rise in the criminal activities in Shibalik Park area.
