Guwahati: As global investor’s eyes northeast, the Tech City in Guwahati is in the process of development as a one-of-a-kind IT and Electronics Hub.
Presently a large number of national and global entrepreneurs have shown their keen interest in setting up various manufacturing facilities and educational & training set ups in the park.
On 4th November, 2020, a delegation headed by Dr. Ron Malka, Ambassador of Israel to India, visited Tech City, which is a 100 acres IT & Electronics facility set up near Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
Keshab Mahanta, Minister of Information Technology & Water Resources, Govt. of Assam also had an exclusive discussion with all the delegates and projected the viable environment, both political and social in the State of Assam. During the visit, the ambassador expressed that, he along with the entire delegation were pleased to visit the set up and was extremely impressed with the vision on which the entire Tech City facility is being developed. He also requested the Department of Information Technology and AMTRON to plan a visit shortly to Israel for exploring the emerging technologies available therein. Further to that, he also stated that the Govt. of Israel would to be happy to provide all the necessary support for any possible collaborations and technology sourcing for establishing manufacturing facility set ups and R&D institutions in the State of Assam with potential investors of Israel. With times to come, Tech City is expected to boost the IT industry of the State and bring in employment opportunities for the youths of the state.
In addition to the Ambassador of Israel to India, the following members were part of the delegation team that visited the Tech City: Ms. Lea Malka, wife of Ambasaddor, Mr. Ronen Krausz, Minister Counselor for Political Affairs, Mr. Dan Alluf, Conselor MASHAV, Ms. Rachel Racheli Mulla- Dy. DA and Ms. Joyshree Das Verma, Honorary Consul of Israel to the North East.
The delegates were welcomed by Keshab Mahanta, Minister of Information Technology & Water Resources, Govt. of Assam, Ramendra Narayan Kalita, MLA, West Guwahati & Chairman, AMTRON, Ritu Baran Sarmah, Vice Chairman, AMTRON, M.K. Yadava, IFS, MD, AMTRON, Kailash Karthik, IAS, D.C., Kamrup, and other officials of Department of Information Technology, Department of Water resources and AMTRON. MD, AMTRON briefed about the project vis-à-vis the facilities to be provided in Tech City to the Israeli ambassador followed by which, the Ivy Gohain Dasgupta, Chief Engineer, Quality Control, Assam Water Resource Department also showcased the present scenario and upcoming development of the Water Resources Department in the State of Assam and requested for technological solutions to diminish the present constraint areas.
