Protest programme by Assam opposition at Assembly premises

Guwahati: A protest programme was organised by a combined opposition front at the Assam Assembly premises at Dispur on Monday. The opposition parties and groups that took part in the programme were the Congress, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and the newly-constituted regional party Anchalik Gana Morcha. The programme that lasted for about three hours demanded of the Centre to release all held-up fund earmarked for flood relief in the state. The protesters also demanded bail for KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi.

Organized by Leader of the Opposition in the Assam Assembly Debabrata Saikia, the demonstration was attended by MPs Gaurav Gogoi, Abdul Khaleque, RS MP and convenor of Anchalik Gana Morcha Ajit Kumar Bhuyan and also HM Shahjahan, KMSS adviser.

The leaders pointed out that the state government was adopting a vindictive attitude towards Akhil Gogoi and was using the Covid-19 pandemic as a political tool.
