Ayushmann, Amitabh starrer Gulabo Sitabo set for June 12 premiere on Amazon prime

GUWAHATI: The theatrical release of movies are been stalled for over two months now due to the nationwide lockdown to contain spread of coronavirus. The producers are now mulling OTT release of their films to tide over the losses incurred.

Recently, movies like Thappad and Angrezi Medium took to Netflix when their theatrical releases were cut short.

In a similar move, Ayushmann Khurrana and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Gulabo Sitabo is all set for its online premiere on Amazon Prime on 12th of June.

Anushmann and Bachchan confirmed the news on their Instagram posts.

"Advance mein aapko book kar rahe hai! Gulabo Sitabo premieres this June 12 only on @primevideoin aa jaana fir, first day, first stream karne”, Anushmann wrote.

“Ek izzatdaar janaab aur uske anokhe kirayedar ki kahaani. Gulabo Sitabo premieres June 12 only on @PrimeVideoIN!,” said Bachchan.

This one's a family comedy drama depicting day to day lives of a tenant and landlord and will be available on Prime for no extra cost to its members.

Amazon Prime Video is thrilled to release the picture exclusively on their platform.

Director of the movie Shoojit Sircar said, "This is the dawn of a new era for Indian entertainment.”

Plans are even being made for online release of certain othet movies too.

Report says, Bollywood movies like Lakshmi Bomb and Shakuntala Devi: Human Computer are also set for web release soon.
